If I could only wear one color for the rest of my life it would absolutely positively be heather grey.
I go through waves of color obsession- currently orange; baby pink for over a year now; before that cobalt blue. But heather grey always seems fresh, never feels trendy, and is super easy to match with. In fact, whenever I have a tricky item that I cannot figure out WTF to wear with it - my answer, 9 times outta 10, is heather grey. Leopard print pants? Heather grey top. Crazy embellished skirt? Heather grey crew neck sweatshirt. Those new yoga pants that have more colors than a squad of my little ponies? Heather grey tee shirt. Asymmetric, draped, pleated, tie dyed, bedazzled, upside down wakadoozle babmboozle new blouse? Heather grey mini skirt. See where I'm going with this?
Ya know... just thinking out loud here...but if I ever have a baby girl, Heather Grey Curtis just might have to be an option.
My favorite heather grey pieces are vintage: tees, hoodies and crewneck sweatshirts. If you are in LA, my best finds come from Booth 83 (near the women's restroom) at the Melrose Trading Post, and SLOW on Melrose. If you're in NYC, try 10ft Single by Stella Dallas in Brooklyn, and No Relation in the East Village.
But, I also love finding great new pieces in unique shapes, or tops that are an eensy weensy bit nicer than some old man's dirty tee (though rarely as comfy). These prove helpful in the heather-grey-with-everything department, especially if you're looking to dress (class) it up at all.
