I was of course going to photoshop my back rolls off of the below image, but I stopped myself. We all know corrective photoshop runs rampant in the fashion industry, our eyes trained to love perfection. We are bombarded with images that are often false representations of reality, and begin to believe these impossible standards are achievable, and that nothing less is good enough. So we, in turn, employ the same deceptive methods- lighting, camera angles, excessive make up, filters, photoshop-to try to keep up with these unrealistic ideas of how we are "supposed" to look. In an effort to break this cycle, I have chosen to post the real picture, back rolls and all! I love this image as-is, and I hope you can embrace in all its imperfect (read: real!) glory.
Now that I'm off my soapbox and back on solid ground, I'm super excited to share this look and the photos by Taishi Arai. For a re-fresher on why to wear (and where to shop!) head to toe poppy, head here.

Jacket, Vintage Levi's from Animal Traffic. Blazer, Topshop (similar; similar; similar). Shirt, Zara (similar; similar and good tip: boys shirts fit GREAT.). Pants, Topshop (similar; similar). Shoes, Zara (similar and insanely cool; similar and classic.). Hat, American Apparel with DIY pompom.
I'm working to make the looks I post more immediately shoppable as much as possible! In this look, the jacket, sweater, and clutch are all currently in-store. Sadly the jeans are vintage- ya didn't actually think mass-produced wear-n-tear could look that good, did you?
Luckily, Animal Traffic in Portland has a ton more like these, and all are in the $25- $45 range. So as much as I LOVE all the super-curated shops sweeping the (cool parts of) the nation, they can keep their three-digit dirty old jeans for themselves.
If you prefer a brand spankin new pair of jeans that have non been worn by an unidentified man with, presumably, a beer belly and bad manners, my favorite brands for the worn in denim look are r13 and NSF.

I think it's prettttty obvious that EVERY runway designer has been finding inspiration on Shelby Hearts. I mean, I did an extensive story on the head-to-toe baby pink trend in the start of 2015, which is exactly when they would have been busy at work designing these S/S 16 collections, so many of which feature the trend. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A more likely scenario, perhaps, is that we're all just really diggin' on this look and no one's ready to say goodbye just yet! Goody gumdrops for us, huh? Because what could be more sweet for the soul than covering oneself in bubble gum and cotton candy. DE. LISH.
We all know pink is a decidedly girly hue, and the runways did not fail to deliver on super femme, flirty options in floaty fabrics, rich embellishments, and oh-so-sweet silhouettes. But, for a girl like myself who prefers menswear-inspired looks, there was also plenty to love, from simple yet special jackets (above), to cool suiting and tough utilitarian, below.
So go ahead with your sweet self and take a (Little Bow) Peep at all the styles, and find your own way to rock- or, Soft Rock- it. ♥
Grommets, drawstring, pockets, and self-ties give you a little G.I.Jane girlpower.
Nothing basic here! All fresh, cool interpretations to outshine your male counterparts.
The softest shapes and shade of the bunch- ima go ahead and call this the Ryan Roche movement.
Minimalist edge in super-clean lines takes away any fussy, princess-y vibes.
Floaty, shiny, lacey, sheer... a girly-girl's dream!
Feathers and sequins and ruffles, oh my!
,Monochromatic baby pink is a trend I have loved for over a year now- dressing both myself and my clients head to toe in the cotton candy hue. Tomorrow I'll be posting a collection of images from the Spring/Summer 2016 runways that prove, much to my delight, the trend is still going strong! For now, feast your eyes on this collage for inspiration on the trend, and proof that it can totally work during colder months.
