Okay. So you're ready to take the plunge into the magical land of rainbow stripes, but you're a leeeetle worried you'll end up looking like an under-age, over-dyed easter egg who's all dressed up with no place to go cause it lost all its friends over poor outfit choices.
Well first, get new friends because those sound awful.
And second, take a style cue from these fierce and fearless ladies who have mastered the rainbow stripe, all while looking age appropriate, seasonally aware, and like they know what the hell is up.
For day, try pairing a bright, bold stripe with menswear pieces in simple neutrals, like army green, white, navy, and grey. This will act to tone the look down- think of it as adding a classy splash of soda to your vodka as opposed to a knock-you-off-your-chair shot-to-the-face.
To dress the rainbow pieces up, you're always safe layering with all black. Or, for a more festive flair, experiment with metallics- like turning your vodka into a champagne cocktail- but keep silhouettes more modest to be sure you're enjoying said cocktail in 2015, and not at studio 54.
Shop rainbow stripes below, for pieces that are decidedly fall in fabrication, shape, and hue, and you can thank me later when you can't stop smiling ♥

I styled Kesha for the Jem and the Holograms premier last week, and man did she look BABESVILLE. Since I've been feeling rainbow magic, and she's been channeling her inner Brigitte Bardot lately, this Cynthia Rowley runway jacket was the perfect combination of playful rainbow and sexy '60s. I accessorized the look with insane Le Silla thigh high suede boots in rich plum hue (um, GIMME), a darling lavender Benedetta Bruzziches clutch, and opal gems from Rock and Gems and Andi Alyse.
I mean is this girl FINE, or what?

Much to my dismay, my first Rainbow Stripes Collage, which I painstakingly and wholeheartedly made into a gif, was unable to be uploaded on this here blog. (But she does dance on my insta- go take a peek @shelbyhearts !)
However, this sassy little rainbow dish, it would appear, is all about shaking what her mama gave her (fancy gif abilities, naturally) live on the blog.
So, for your viewing pleasure, I present my first gif Collage! Hope ya dig it ♥
I'm all about publishing stories that can inspire you to work with your existing wardrobe to create fresh new combos. This, however, is not one of those stories. (Unless you're like, a fashion savvy lady leprechaun.)
This, my friends, is a case of holy petunias I gotta go shopping because wearing a full blown rainbow -what childhood dreams are made of- has become not only acceptable, but HiGh fA$i0n!
Although stripes have been a fashion staple since long before Waldo went missing, the Spring/ Summer 2016 trend takes stripes on a wild new journey- and not necessarily in straight lines or equal widths. And when it comes to colors... the more the merrier!
Check out the trends and styles below for what to look for and how to wear it, then check back later this week for where to shop!
From a foot wide, to half an inch thin, you can't go wrong with stripes if they check off all the boxes in ROY-G-BIV. Go ahead and taste that rainbow, y'all.
Narrow with Black
Slightly more tame, but no less powerful, a thin stripe alternating with black somehow walks the line (get it?) of preppy-sweet and edgy-cool.
A super fresh spin on the stripe mixes and matches a range of widths, as well as brights with pastels.
Don't stop at prints! Stripes were created with stitching, lace, ruffles, beading, raffia and faux fur for spirited yet sophisticated clothing.
Movement, Curves and Zig-Zags
This is your stripes. This is your stripes on drugs. WoooOohoOHoooOoOoOoOoOOOooOoOOOO!!
